The Kyoto Protocol agreement came into force February 16, 2005. The participating countries (189 countries) are required to reduce their emissions of greenhouse gases (EGG) to an average of 5.2% before 2012. The average for Canada is set at 6%. Since 1990, the industrial countries produced an average increase of about 17%; Canada produced an increase of 19.6% " The ratification of Kyoto is a historical moment ", says John Bennett of the Sierra Club of Canada. " This is the first time that a treaty on global warming will reunite the international community. The protocol will serve as a catalyst for the political and diplomatic sectors that are often known to react slowly at finding solutions to issues which can take decades to resolve. It is in this context of world premiere in matter of environment protection that the Eco-Kyoto Foundation intends to promote its mission to as many environmentalists as possible, at all levels, to participating countries. Benefiting from this new synergy, the Foundation plans to successfully carry out informative and educational projects as well as to promote ecological and sustainable development solutions susceptible to help participating countries to attain the protocol objectives. To ensure the development of its different projects, the Foundation will count on the implication of people from different sectors of activity and people concerned with the protection of the environment. During the next few months, we will be soliciting the support and participation of individuals who wish to be part of our different committees. These partners will have as mandate to oversee the proper functioning of the operations as well as the development of the Foundation and its miscellaneous activities. Initiatives proposed by the Eco-Kyoto Foundation in this document must be put forward as soon as possible and receive everyone's support and collaboration. We are hoping that this document has raised your awareness of the urgency
to react promptly and will convince you to bring us your moral and financial
support so that together we will act more efficiently thus contributing
to a healthier planet. Enjoy reading! Together we have the power to change the course of
events
